Level Meters

Level Meters are devices that measure the level of a liquid in a fixed area. There are two main types of meters in the measurement of liquids: contact and non-contact.  Differing technologies are used successfully to determine a liquid’s level. These include ultrasound, flotation, conduction, vibration, hydrostatic and radar level sensors with their appropriate transmitters.

    Level Transmitters - Overview

    Hydrostatic level measurements For small and large volumes. This is performed by applying the sensor directly to the water column load to be measured. This method is suited for dams, reservoirs and equalizing basins from 0 to 275 m height.

    Pneumatic level measurements For measurements by means of the bubbling method. The sensor, without having water contact, measures the counter pressure generated by an air compressor. This is also suited for reservoirs, rivers, dams and equalizing basins from 0 to 135 m height.

    Level measurements with floaters A precise, extremely robust and maintenance-free level measurement can easily be set up by means of a floater connected to the rotary encoder via a chain and gear wheel

    Type MPA, MPB & MPC - These Submersible Transmitter Probes hang in water on a special cable with integrated steel wire and air tube.

    Type  MPG and MPJ - These Pressure Transmitter Sensors are screwed into the wall of the pipe or container.

    Overview of Ultrasonic Level Sensor 2270

    The type 2270 is a rugged, high performance ultrasonic level measurement sensor, having transducer and processing electronics incorporated in one single housing. Provides all the sophisticated echo detection features of the well accepted 2260 Ultrasonic Level Transmitters.

    For single and multiple tank applications 2-wire sensors are recommended using either HART protocol or 4 to 20 mA for the direct communication with a panel mount controller or a PLC.

    Either for liquid level measurement in sumps or tanks, for tank contents measurement, or open channel flow measurement, the 2270 Level Sensors provide the answer. Sensing ranges up to 8 m are available. PP and PVDF sensor bodies provide best chemical resistance in applications where concentrated chemical shall be detected.
