  • Dissolved Oxygen Sensor | oxi::lyser DO

    R46,646.00

    Dissolved Oxygen Sensor - Overview

    The oxi::lyser is used in direct contact with water and measures dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature. It needs minimal calibration and very little maintenance. The oxi::lyser™ does not need a minimum flow to produce accurate readings and integrates the temperature measurement for online correction. The sensing element, which uses the principle of fluorescence for oxygen measurement, is neither affected nor damaged by direct exposure to sunlight. It can be cleaned automatically with compressed air to ensure fouling is kept to a minimum. The simple plug connection provides power supply and data communication. The oxi::lyser is then connected to a s::can terminal and is ready for use. The “plug & measure” principle avoids complex installation procedures on-site and not only saves time during initial operation but also reduces avoidable errors. The optimised design eliminates all moving parts in contact with the water. This reduces failures and maintenance dramatically. As it uses standardised mounting devices, installation is quick and effortless, either submersed (InSitu) or in a flow-through setup (by-pass, monitoring station).

    The oxi::lyser is used in online control of the aeration of the biological carbon as well as the removal of nitrogen. Activated sludge increases its activity with rising oxygen concentrations, but this increase is not linear: Above approximately 2.5 mg/L a further elevation in oxygen does not increase the nitrification enough to justify the rise in costs of aeration. Furthermore, too-high oxygen concentrations interfere with the process of denitrification. Therefore oxygen concentration must be controlled online in the entire biological nitrogen removal process. Used in combination with the nitro::lyser™ and the ammo::lyser™ operational procedures can be optimised.

    In drinking water applications Dissolved Oxygen is mainly used in early warning systems detecting problems in raw water quality:  Reduced dissolved oxygen concentrations are often an indicator of harmful microbial or chemical contaminations of the water.

    Applied in natural waters or on fish farms the oxi::lyser™ can detect anaerobic conditions, which are life-threatening aquatic organisms, and thus it helps to prevent ecological as well as economic damage.
