Analytical and Water Quality Instruments

Water Quality control is essential for the management of water in the environment and industry. Pollutants can wreak havoc on machinery and equipment in industrial plants and cause health problems for staff and communities. Monitoring is essential to provide the objective evidence necessary to make sound decisions on managing water quality.

  • Online Biological Oxygen Demand Analyser | BIO Series

    Online Biological Oxygen Demand Analyser - Overview

    These bio-electrode sensors (BES) allow you to reliably measure and monitor the changing BOD or VFA concentrations in wastewater. IT has a sensor biofilm which is customised to the following applications: wastewater collection networks, influent locations of wastewater treatment facilities,  anaerobic selectors for biological nutrient removal, and anaerobic digestion environments.  The sensors monitor biological oxidation of organic carbon in wastewater streams by measuring the rate at which in-situ and customised biofilm surfaces consume the available food.  A biofilm is established on the sensor after 1-3 days in the wastewater stream. This bio-electric surface then uses the sensor current collector to generate a flow of electrons that is equivalent to the rate of organic carbon oxidation. This flow of electrons is measured and displayed on an online dashboard and updated every minute. Increasing BOD in wastewater will result in increased metabolic activity and sensor signal; acute chemical toxicity or significant dilution of BOD will result in low alert signals and reduce metabolic activity. This results in reliable, real-time insight into biological treatment rates and performance. These microbial, fuel cell-based sensors are robust and are used in the most challenging situations. Very little maintenance or cleaning is required. It highlights microbial activity variations, organic matter degradation, and process upsets, which can guide your operations.

    Online Biological Oxygen Demand Analyser - Features

    • Real-time monitoring of consumable BOD/VFA or rbCOD surrogate
    • Plug-and-play functionality
    • Multiple connectivity options (analogue, Ethernet, Wi-Fi)

  • TSS Sensor Total Suspended Solids | Soli::lyser

    Price range: R51,978.00 through R58,659.00

    soli::lyser - Overview

    The soli::lyser is an optical probe that measures concentrations of suspended solids directly in the water. It integrates the temperature measurement for online correction. Using the principle of infrared absorbance, the readings are not affected by colors. The soli::lyser utilises an automatic cleaning system that uses compressed air for the removal of fouling. Because of this, regular manual cleaning of the optical windows is not required, thus significantly reducing maintenance for the operator. It has no replaceable parts or consumables, thereby reducing operational costs.

    The level of mixed liquor suspended solids in aeration basins is an essential parameter for the process control of wastewater treatment plants. The concentration of suspended solids measured by the TSS sensor can be used for the optimisation of the biological treatment processes (i.e. nitrification, denitrification as well as phosphorus elimination) and for the control of sludge recirculation.
