    FV Automatic Flow Controller - Overview

    Accurate flow control is vital to a wide variety of processes, for example blending and dosing applications. This controller automatically regulates the flow of liquids or gases by using available line pressure. Once set to the required value, flow is maintained accurately independently of supply pressure fluctuations or varying back pressure downstream, subject to certain minimum overall head loss requirements. No electrical power or external flow measurement input is required.  By keeping the required fluid delivery rate constant, one can ensure consistent product quality irrespective of process liquid head changes throughout a batch. These controllers are used in flow control systems such as aircraft fuel delivery systems, to prevent the hazard of excessive flows and protect metering systems from over-speeding. On natural gas or fuel oil delivery systems to multiple burners, the units can maintain optimum flow rate to each burner independently. Available in sizes from 15mm to 100mm. All units can be fitted with a flow scale plate calibrated for process conditions. Once set to a flow rate, the Flostat maintains that flow independent of line pressure fluctuations,

    Platon Plastic VA Flowmeter - Overview

    Type PG and PGU flowmeters are low-cost variable area flowmeters for liquids or gases, in pipe sizes 1/2” or 1”.The shatterproof TPX moulded tapered indicator tube has a 100mm linear flow scale with a 10:1 flow range. The stainless steel or Dural float rises with the flow to an equilibrium position.  The flow rate is then read from the top of the float. Scales are etched directly onto the plastic flow tube ensuring high float visibility so that it can be easily read at a distance. They are available with air or water scales etched into the flow tube. Glass tubes are also available, which can be supplied with custom scales to suit process conditions, in the PGU housing. TPX plastic has excellent resistance to most chemicals and gases. It is also non-toxic and boilable.

    Type PG is a lightweight, open construction ideal for surface mounting or portable use. For alternative process liquids or conditions, external laminated scales are provided and positioned in front of the flow tube.

    Type PGU has a rigid diecast housing with a Perspex window, giving it complete protection from random damage. This flowmeter is suitable for unsupported mounting in process pipework.

    Shunt Orifice SGUV - Overview

    The type SGUV and type SGUL are direct reading Flowmeters for clean liquids and gases in pipe sizes larger than 30mm. They provide a robust and cost effective method of flow measurement. The indicator housing can be mounted locally to the pipe or remotely by the use of flexible impulse tubing. The instrument is a combination of two measuring principles. It is essentially a pressure differential device consisting primarily of an accurately machined orifice plate located in the main pipework. This produces a pressure drop proportional to the square of the flow rate. A secondary orifice restrictor located in the by-pass flowmeter is accurately calibrated to produce a by-pass flow that can be measured by the glass VA type flowmeter, scaled in terms of the main pipe flow. The metering elements are manufactured to a high standard of interchangeability with boldly marked indicating scales and dynamically balanced floats.

    Metal Tube Purge Flowmeter - Overview

    Platon Safety Housed GU VA Flow Meter - Overview

    Type GU are glass tube Variable Area Flowmeters for the direct display of liquid or gas flow rate. It has a robust rigid frame which is suitable for mounting directly into plant pipework, protecting the glass tube from pipework stress and random plant damage. The safety Perspex window gives good flow visibility whilst protecting the operator. A safety blowout disc on the rear of the housing provides a relief vent for process fluids, in case of glass tube damage. Glass tube VA flowmeters are simple and reliable in operation, and instantaneous in response. They offer flow visualisation to the operator, and the float rotation confirms correct meter performance. Standard tubes and floats offer low line pressure loss and a high resolution 100mm linear scale, fused into the glass tube. Fluid flows vertically upward through the tapered glass tube which causes the float to rise to an equilibrium position. Flow rate is measured on the scale of the flow tube, along the top edge of the float. The borosilicate glass tubes are individually scaled according to customers' requirements, and individually flow calibrated.

    Screwed Metal Tube VA Flowmeter - Overview

    This flowmeter is ideal for industrial use as an alternative to large glass tube flowmeters. Suitable for gas or liquid flow measurement at high pressures and temperatures, where the fluids are opaque or dark-coloured. It also provides high operational security for dangerous or toxic materials. Models GMTB and GMTS are brass or Stainless Steel tube flowmeters with female screwed connections. With 1/2”,1” and 2” BSP/NPT threaded fittings standard. The VA meter principle used in the Platon GMT flowmeter measures the position of a float in a precision-machined tapered tube. The float rises with the flow up the taper until the upthrust from the flow balances with the weight of the float. A magnet, electron beam welded into the float casing, drives the external meter indication over a 100mm scale typically displaying a 10:1 flow range. Options available on the GMTB/GMTS include (GMTA) flow alarm outputs for high or low adjustable set points and electronic 4-20mA flow transmitter (GMTX) outputs. All of these are available with CENELEC approval. All units are calibrated for the specific line conditions or fluid involved.
