Who is s::can?
s::can GmbH was founded by Andreas Weingartner and 4 co-founders as a University spin-off in 1999 and is based in Vienna, Austria. In 2020 Badger Meter, a global provider of industry-leading water solutions encompassing flow measurement, quality and other system parameters, acquired s::can. The s::can management team now leads the company together with Badger Meter to further growth and success.

What does s::can do?
Spectrometer Probes
s::can is the inventor and leader in online spectrometer probes. Spectro::lyser probes are the first and only instruments in the world that can measure optical spectra from 190 to 750 nm directly in liquid media. Substances contained in the medium absorb the light beam emitted by a lamp that moves through the liquid. After contact with the medium, its intensity is measured by a detector over a range of wavelengths specific to the application.
Other Probes
They offer a wide range of electrochemical, optical and ion-selective probes. Parameters included are DO, TSS, NTU/FTU, Free and Total Chlorine, ORP, pH, Conductivity, Hydrogen Peroxide, Chlorine Dioxide, Peracetic Acid, Fluoride, Ammonium, Nitrate and Potassium.

Monitoring Stations
The monitoring stations are designed for online monitoring of multiple water quality parameters in clean or dirty water. A selection of probes and controllers are factory-assembled with all the required flow cells, mounting fittings and pipework on a compact panel. This makes maintenance easy.
The fully modular monitoring stations combine s::can instruments into a compact and versatile system. The central location makes them easy to maintain and presents a complete solution, as the user only has to connect the water supply and discharge (“plug & measure”) to receive a previously unheard-of variety of parameters at a reduced cost.
